Last month I also had a pleasure visiting the city of Dusseldorf...It's the best place to meet new people and do some shopping(by the way tax free refunds start at 25 euro).
The city feels very good especially when you watch a sunset sitting by the Rhine river...
The police was extremely friendly as well.

By the way, I was so happy to stay at Wyndham hotel located at Koenigsallee street.
Best service, staff and quality.
Basically, we spent just three days there. Compared to Amsterdam it's...let's say boring.
It's not a very attractive place for tourists(which is good actually), yet I didn't find it very inspiring.
If you get a little part of Moscow city add some tiny streets among the skyscrapers this is gonna be it- I mean Dusseldorf.
